Jaguar

The Mayans believed that jaguars were one of the rulers of  “Xibalbá” (the Underworld). The jaguar symbolizes the night sun, darkness, power, ferocity, valor, aggressiveness, and fearlessness.

It was an icon to the bravest warriors. Mayan priests called Balam officiated only the most important ceremonies.

In Mayan times, the sighting of a black jaguar symbolized disaster.

Chichen Itza in Mexico is one of the 7 wonders of the world. There are many temples there.  The Mayan king had to walk beneath the Temple of the Jaguar during his coronation ceremony.

Here is us at Chichen Itza :)
